... I never took that to mean chronological order. I believe that the last bullet listed (if I remember right, don't make me go get my handbook) is that we also identified the signer. I certainly am not going to administer an oath to someone and have them sign the doc if I haven't even ID'd them yet. What if they're not the person we're supposed to be swearing in and not the person supposed to be signing? Seems the bell has already rung on that one. Also I don't see how someone can sign a document indicating everything in the doc is true and then later take an oath that's it's true. What if they want to change their mind? Can they cross out their signature? Makes no sense to me...
Actually, I've been at signings where the borrowers take the oath seriously and want to review the doc before they sign ... to be sure everything they're are swearing to is actually true .... |
