My credit union used to accept the e-checks (which I also like) over the counter. Then, they stopped accepting them over the counter and said I could only deposit them online. I can make online deposits right from the office, so no problem, except now any e-check I get, I have to do the online deposit. The manager of my branch explained that in order to verify them, each check has to be separately handled and it costs too much. Go figure. All of the CUNA automatic tellers (that normally accept all check deposits) won't accept e-checks - they spit them back out at you. Of course, many auto tellers won't accept any kind of deposit, they only put out cash. Depends on you bank.
Yes, there is all the explanations that come with the check that says they can call, but no one wants to waste time apparently calling Deluxe Checks or whomever to verify them. Such is life, I suppose. |
