I Agree With You Steve . . .

. . . there is nothing better than a nice in-home closing with a golden retriever, or some other big fluffy dog laying on your feet and you have room to spread out at their dining room or kitchen table and all is quiet. I like those too. My whole point really was that while the loan officers are insisting upon the in-home closings, some people just don't want us in their homes. Whether it is dogs they don't feel like putting away, messy houses they don't feel like cleaning, or clean houses they don't want some stranger tracking their germs into, not everyone wants an in-home closing and would rather do it at the local coffee shop down the street or at the nearest bank branch. Sometimes on my confirmation calls I say "our appointment is for 2:30 p.m. on the 15th and would you like me to come to your home at 123 Main Street?" Most times the borrower says yes they would love for us to come to their home, however, there have been several times the borrower has said something like "no can we meet at the coffee shop down the street instead?", or "I have three large dogs that I know it will be an issue if someone they don't know comes over", and of course my favorite "my house is really messy and I don't feel like cleaning". I always have to laugh a little because the people who think their house is messy . . . it's probably nothing compared to some of the hoarder houses we have all been in at one time or another in our careers. It never ceases to amaze me . . . you walk into one of those places and they either don't say a word, or they say something like "pardon the mess please . . . our grandchildren were here this weekend".
