Virginia Notary Signing Agents - Urgent

According to the XYZ, this will negatively impact you. I know that this isn't the place to put XYZ links, but this seems urgent. I haven't seen it posted here.

From their website:

Impact on Virginia NSAs

Under the proposal, anyone conducting a closing conference to sign real property documents and receiving funds would have to meet the licensing requirements for settlement agents. “Anyone” would include Notary signing agents.

Among the requirements, you would have to obtain:

--A license as a title insurance agent. To obtain a license, you’d have to take a pre-licensing course, pass the title examination and be appointed by a title insurance company.
--An errors and omissions insurance police of at least $250,000 per claim or occurrence;
--A fidelity bond of at least $100,000 per claim or occurrence; and
--A surety bond of at least $200,000.

Note: This proposed change has been bubbling since Nov. 9, 2015! It was totally under the radar. The deadline to provide your input is 2/16. Visit the XYZ link below for more info.

Okay - the link above is a link to an XYZ blog post. If you find it offensive, please report it, but I decided that no matter who was sending out this alarm, it needed to be posted in this forum.
