On Thursday, I receive a call from a nice young lady asking if I'm a notary. Yes. Then, she asks if I will travel to an office to notarize. Yes. We proceed to schedule. I ask her what time works for them on Friday as my Thursday is already booked. She says 12 noon would be great. I get all pertinent information, advise of fee. She asks if I'll accept check or credit. Yes, either one will work.
Friday, I show up at 11:55 at the good doctor's office and ask for "Susie". "Hi," says Susie as she accepts my card, "I'll go check on the doctor." 5 minutes later Susie comes out and says doctor is running late and still has a couple of patients waiting for him and it'll be another 15 minutes or more, can I wait. I try to clarify the "15 minutes or more" but all she could say is it may be 15 minutes or it could be half an hour. No way to know. Informed Susie I can wait about 5 minutes or we can re-schedule. She went to advise doctor. Susie says doc would like to re-schedule. Will next Tuesday work for me? Tuesday is fine, how about first thing in the morning before he gets bogged down with patients. Nope. He starts seeing patients before anyone else is working there. She suggests 12:30 as that day they're changing over their computer system and have scheduled a very light patient day.
This doctor's website says patient will incur a $25 charge for a not canceling or re-scheduling within 24 hours of appointment.
GNW question: Would you charge an additional fee for Friday's travel and time? According to what I was told on the phone, this assignment consists of 1 signature on 1 document to be notarized. I've never worked with this medical office before and it's about 5 miles away from me. TIA!
