I grew up in Tucson and my brother has been in the real estate business there for decades. Business attire for him usually consists of 'khaki' (i.e. that style of slack, not that color) and a nice Hawaiian or Mexican (guyabera) style shirt. They're much more comfortable in the heat and can be really nice. That works for the men, but for us ladies, obviously not...
I always wear long slacks and closed toed shoes myself (and, yes, nearly always hose - old habits die hard...) and usually a layered look with a short-sleeved top over a T of some sort. Just makes a more complete outfit and looks a bit less 'casual'. Seems to work for whatever kind of setting I find myself in.
I've also trained my car to home in on shady parking spots... In fact, I'll park a good bit farther away, if necessary, to get that shady spot! A/C in the car works fine, but it's amazing how much of a difference it makes. Maybe it's time to copy the folks in AZ and NV and get one of those windshield screens that reflects the sun. (I've been threatening to do that for years, but it's only been rarely needed here in the past, so I've never gotten to it. It's tough enough sitting through a signing in a home with just a fan trying to cool things down, but coming back to a very hot car only makes it worse! I also always try to keep a mini cooler in the car with plenty of cold water, etc.
Stay safe, everyone!!
