Yes, I've seen lower for "notary fee."
I don't know all your facts connected with this closing; however, often I see the "Notary Public" fee for services broken out as a separate line item; i.e., Fee to Jane Smith, Notary Public - $10 (2 Connecticut notarizations performed).
If this is: "Fee to Notary Public for Loan Closing - $25" WHOAA!! As far as I know, Notaries Public in any state are not authorized by their State commission/license to perform "loan closings." This would be a "Signing Agent" fee. I would not want to be a Notary Public who had to answer my charging for "loan closing services" under the umbrella of my Notary Public commission/license to my Secretary of State or State Attorney General. |
