"I checked with my lieutenant governor's office ..... as long as I am just there to witness the signature then it is fine"
1. Did you tell whomever you spoke with, hopefully an Attorney, that you are NOT acting as a Notary Public when you do this?
2. Maybe double check with your Attorney General's office, same question and state you are not performing any notarizations, just bringing the documents and acting as a witness. Not to worry you, but CT has Very Strict legal requirements and restrictions when meeting with a client signing debt resolution documents. Some states require you to represent yourself as "an agent for the debt resolution company" or state you are a paralegal working for the debt resolution company, NOT as a independent contractor. Money isn't bad IF you can do this in your state, but I advise getting a legal opinion from your state Attorney General's office. |
