Government Shutdown 101: What Every Notary Needs To Know
Posted by PegiT_MN of MN on 1/17/18 12:24pm Msg #588793
Not only does a government shutdown affect the ability to apply for passports, visit national parks, and Smithsonian Museums, and receive social security benefits, it affects Notary Signing Agents and our ability to continue to close loans.

With the possibility of a government shutdown happening this Friday, lenders will not be able to send in the 4506-T to the IRS for tax transcripts thus preventing many loans from reaching the final approval status clearing them for closing.

The last time we had a government shutdown, I remember it being very slow for about three weeks until things started moving again.

Let's just hope we don't have to go through this again, especially since January is already a slow month, and now a government shutdown will slow things down even more.
