Born in 1922, I asked her if she had been a teacher since her handwriting was so perfect (remember when we all learned to "write" perfectly?). She took out the HELOC just to have in an emergency, as she thinks she may need to re-roof her house this fall. She said she needs to stick around for 3 more years to avoid the early closure fee of $350. I laughed and told her she looked pretty darned good for 96 and marveled at her sense of humor, she is just as sharp as a tack.
She was so sweet, she no longer drives, but gets around with LIFT in town and friends and family. She loves to garden, we had a lot to talk about. She reminded me of my mother when she came to the door drying her hands on her cherry printed apron. Nice little Welsh lady who loved the Royal Wedding and spoke about it briefly. She made me a spot of English tea.
The sweetest signing I had all week, it was a brutal month end, and only 4 more days of this standing on my head, driving to Egypt, waiting for docs, postponements, rescheduling, yada yada. It's great to be frantically busy again. |
