Just for yucks - and because I should be doing something else right now - I did an archive search for "legal signature", because I know this issue has been coming up since forever. I jumped back through what seemed like a few most relevant threads and looked for posts by certain people whose opinions I've always most respected.

Here's a small spattering of what I think are some of the most useful, informative posts on the subject, with message # and author 'name'. In some cases, it might be interesting to read the entire thread.
