My advice: read this forum daily, (skip the nonsense), get very familiar with the search function, and be prepared to work hard. (Actually, Google will likely get you more results from the archives here anymore than the orange search button, but both are incredibly valuable.)
All the answers you might want are here for the finding. This market is in a downturn and even the most experienced are not getting as much work as they used to. As for where to get started, no one is going to give you their client list. You can start by looking at Signing Central (one of the tabs above), but be very careful who you work for. There are way too many players in this business who are unreliable, to put it nicely, and have a terrible reputation for not getting around to paying their notaries.
