Sadly you're correct in the people in the "profession" being clueless as to the working of transactions. There have been conversations where I have actually asked if they have ever worked with this type of paperwork before.... some scary-eee answers.
On wires I will call the T/E and ask for them to e-mail me the information just prior to closing. Compare this with package and what the client may have received, especially large amounts.. No problems so far.
