Yep. Got the same call but did not follow instructions because SSA would never call like that... its at their website and in their mailings - they will never call us. After hanging up on the first call, 2 more came in to my phone, which I now have on a block. I had been told by a web security instructor that if we push a button on our phones as instructed by caller or call the number they give us.... it merely makes a record of the phone number which responded and then they have your name, address etc.
I filed a complaint with the Office of Inspector General who oversees Social Security Fraud as a Federal Crime. http://oig.ssa.gov Right now at their website is the very fraud call that you received and they have the form to fill out in order to bring foreign based callers to justice here in the USA - they "ping" off US phone numbers from overseas - so the number you have here may have been hijacked. ITs a real problem! |
