Only one platform for RON per notary in FL?
Posted by  VT_Syrup of VT on 1/8/20 10:15am Msg #614382
Msg #614375 by flnative/FL and some of the online documents I found for Florida remote online notarization seems to say that a Florida notary can only choose one online platform provider. Limiting to one platform seems like a bad idea to me for any kind of electronic notarization (and RON seems like a bad idea in general).

For now, most title companies and similar entities seem to be staying away from electronic notarization except for heavily used documents that are created under well-controlled conditions, such as assignment of mortgages. If and when they start doing them, I would think they would want to integrate them with their overall electronic workflow, so would choose a platform that integrates well with their system.

I would expect different title companies will affiliate with different platforms, so a notary who wants to serve a variety of title companies would want to sign up with different platforms. Being limited to one would be sort of like a traditional notary choosing what paper size and what pen color he/she will notarize at the start of the commission term, and having to file paperwork with the SOS to change.
