Kellyanne gets slapped for violating the ethics rules
Posted by MikeC/TX of TX on 2/9/17 5:17pm Msg #69550
This fantasy that Trump is going to separate his family's business interests from his position as President has got to stop. There's his spokesperson this morning, sitting in the White House press room in her capacity as his adviser, blatantly endorsing Ivanka's clothing line - a clear violation of 5 CFR 2635.702:

"An employee shall not use his public office for his own private gain, for the endorsement of any product, service or enterprise, or for the private gain of friends, relatives, or persons with whom the employee is affiliated in a nongovernmental capacity, including nonprofit organizations of which the employee is an officer or member, and persons with whom the employee has or seeks employment or business relations."

The SpiceMan said today at the daily press briefing only that "she has been counseled"; Rep. Chaffetz, chair of the House Oversight Committee said later that it wasn't enough, and it sounds like he and ranking Democrat Rep. Cummings will jointly be asking the OGE to sanction Conway. The OGE's website was down for several hours this afternoon and their phone and email systems were overwhelmed by the volume of complaints.

Where does this madness end??
