It's not a question of whether it was legal. Trump bluffed in order to force Comey to tell the truth (so he says), while at the same time suggesting to us that Comey was lying under oath by denying he said some of the things Comey said he did.
Now he says his bluff worked, and Comey changed his story to be more truthful - but if that's the case, Trump is now admitting that what Comey said under oath was, in fact, true - that Trump tried to pressure him to drop the investigation of Flynn.
It seems he's so obsessed with having someone say that he wasn't personally under investigation (which Comey DID say under oath was true at the time) that he forgot about the other more damaging parts of Comey's testimony. |
