As someone said in a comment I read elsewhere, Rosa Parks wasn't protesting about buses. When this all started, CK would just sit on the bench during the anthem. A former Army Ranger pulled him aside and told him to consider what the military does for a fallen comrade - they take a knee as a sign of respect. CK thought about it, realized it was a good idea, and that's why he started taking a knee to protest against police brutality.
It was never about the flag or the anthem. Trump made it that way to deflect the meaning of the protest, throw more red meat to his base, and distract from his poor leadership. |
