There are multiple reports that Trump was told by WH lawyer Donald McGahn that Mike Flynn lied to both VP Pence and the FBI and recommended that Flynn should be fired, a decision Trump sat on for over two weeks until WAPO broke a story about it. Flynn was then fired; the next day, according to James Comey's notes, Comey was asked by Trump to "let this go... let Flynn go". That could very well be obstruction of justice.
John Dowd, Trump's personal lawyer, who has made a dizzying array of comments since the Trump tweet that seemed to admit obstruction, now claims that a president cannot obstruct justice. Almost all legal scholars who are not named Dershowitz disagree, especially when a president is interfering in order to protect his own interests. Bill Clinton was impeached on two charges, one of which was obstruction of justice, and this argument was never made at his Senate trial.
