"Why should the president get involved in a state screwup? I’m sure he was aware of it but quickly moved on when it was clearly a a mistake and there was no threat as you implied."
Oh, I dunno - maybe to reassure them, as POTUS, that everything was under control? He created the atmosphere in which this became a possibility, and while an entire state was in a panic, he continued to play golf.
People in Hawaii were actually running through the streets in a panic - he was briefed on what was happening while on the golf course, and not only decided to keep playing but the first thing he tweeted after that was an unrelated attack on the media.
The ability and willingness of the right to excuse everything Trump does and says can be mind-boggling at times.
What would your HONEST reaction have been if this happened on Obama's watch and Obama didn't react to it?
What if it had happened in your state, and you were mistakenly told that you probably had less than 15 minutes to live? Wouldn't you want some assurance from POTUS that this type of thing wouldn't happen again?
And it's not just a state screwup - the emergency alert system is controlled by the FCC, so it's a federal issue as well.
