It's Trump's DHS because he selected the director.

The individual in question is NOT a "refugee" - she is a victim of domestic violence who is seeking asylum for herself and her daughter. She did not enter the country illegally but presented herself at the border for asylum. Jeff Sessions unilaterally decided that domestics abuse and gang violence are no longer sufficient for an asylum claim, even though they are already codified in immigration law. That's what this lawsuit is about - whether Sessions had the right to do that.

The Judicial Branch does not make or enforce laws, but it does determine whether those laws are constitutional. It's called "checks and balances" - perhaps you learned about that in high school? THAT was the purpose of the hearing, and for the Executive Branch to lie about their intentions and deport a plaintiff in the middle of the night before the case was decided is just unconscionable. Rule of law in this country includes judicial overview - bad laws are struck down all the time by the courts and for the Executive Branch to completely ignore the Judicial Branch is unheard of in the history of our country.

Finally - are you descended from the aboriginals here in what we now call America? If not, you and your family are immigrants. What makes YOUR family's immigration to America more valid than the attempts by Latinos to do the same thing today? What makes you more of an American?

I am the proud descendant of Italian immigrants and a second-generation American. Immigration is what made America what it is today, and it's what made America great. We don't need to make it "great again", it already is - and I welcome all immigrants, regardless of the color of their skin or their religious beliefs. Sadly, too many on the right do not, having forgotten their own ancestral roots. As Trump would say in a tweet - "Sad!"
