They outdid themselves yesterday.
In a video tribute announcing the death of Aretha Franklin, they posted a picture of Patti Labelle, who is still very much alive. Fox later apologized and said that Franklin was cropped out of the picture, but in fact she was never IN the picture - the two did not perform together at that show and were not on stage together.
Then the blonde airhead on Fox&Friends - Trump's go-to program for reliable news and information - said that one of the things that make her proud of America is that we defeated "communist Japan". Huh? The two guys who bookend her on that couch didn't even react to the gaffe - one of them appeared to either be contemplating his navel or staring at the floor while she was talking. As far as I know, no correction has been made by anyone at Fox so far.
Promoting conspiracy theories is one thing (e.g., Seth Rich), but does getting basic and verifiable historical facts wrong qualify as "fake news"? |
