The reason Harry Reid killed the 60 vote rule to approve federal judgeships was because the GOP was blocking every Obama judicial nomination. It was a stupid decision on his part, but he left the 60 vote rule in place for SCOTUS nominations.

McConnell blew that up with the Gorsuch nomination because he didn't have the votes to get Gorsuch through. So now, ALL federal judges are decided by a simple majority vote - which was never done before. So McConnell cannot decide what is and isn't precedent - his explanations are a joke.

As far as the OP - I take your point. It may be that the reporter in question was not fully prepared; he could have used other facts to refute what Mitch was saying. As to whether CNN is an "honest broker" - there are a lot of liberals who are upset about the fact that CNN gives a platform to rabid conservatives such as Rick Santorum and Dinesh Disousa( sp?). If they're "in the bag for the Democrats", why do they give airtime to dissenting views?
