The gang that couldn't shoot straight
Posted by MikeC/TX of TX on 10/30/18 4:20pm Msg #72135
A couple of GOP operatives with a history of spreading right-wing conspiracy theories are under investigation by the FBI for attempting to interfere with the Mueller investigation. They got a brilliant idea to discredit Robert Mueller and his investigation by paying women to come forward with allegations that Mueller sexually assaulted them.

The story was teased on social media online and was supposed to drop on Nov 1 with an appearance at a press conference by at least one of these "brave women"; today it was revealed by several media outlets that ANOTHER woman came forward to spill the beans about the plot a couple of weeks ago, alleging in an email to reporters that she was approached and offered over $30,000 by one of these clowns to lie about the sexual assaults. Reporters were unable to confirm ANY of the stories - including hers - and notified the Special Counsel's office, which in turn referred the matter to the FBI last week.

The dimmer bulb in the pair set up a bogus investigation company that was apparently going to be used to back up the false claims. It might have worked, except for two things - although he denies any involvement with that bogus firm, his email address appears on the web site's registration as the owner of the domain, and the company's phone number redirects to a voice mail account that is registered to his mother.

For future reference, if you're going to plot to break the law, it's probably not a good idea to implicate your mommy in the plot... just saying...
