A nonpartisan PSA
Posted by MikeC/TX of TX on 11/3/18 7:29pm Msg #72144
Next Tuesday, Nov 6, is Election Day.

Who you vote for doesn't really matter to me - we will always disagree about that. What matters is that you VOTE.

The right to vote is the basis of any democracy, and especially so for ours. Non-participatory democracies - those in which the majority of the population doesn't vote - can eventually stop being a democracy and become an autocracy, where those in charge make all the decisions and your rights are quickly eroded.

VOTE. Every election, every time, without fail. We may not agree on the politics, but we have to agree on the need to cast a ballot because that's the only way we can preserve our right to agree to disagree.

If you voted early, good for you - I did the same thing. If you haven't voted yet, Tuesday's your last chance. Get your butt off the couch or whatever you're sitting on and VOTE, dammit... No matter who you vote for, it's important.
