They know what they're doing - it's easier for them to do it this way. I had a Netgear router, and the first thing I wanted to do was change the administrator login. They allow you to change the administrator's password, but not the username, which makes no sense at all to me. At least I could change the password to something much stronger than the default (which was "password").
