One of my nieces is a fluent French speaker due to school immersion program when she was little; her younger sister speaks Spanish as well as a native (several friends who spoke around her).
After several years of Spanish in school, no more formal education for me (sorry, Senora N-felt); I only need to spend more time in bilingual settings - as it can come back pretty quickly. Conversational spanish would be better suited to me. I have a 60-something friend of (the proper) SPAIN and her Spanish is too correct (unintelligible) for me; I can barely understand her English - and she's been around Americans forever!
As for my espanol-speaking amigos, they just have to watch what they say around me; they know that despite not conversing very well, I understand Mucho! |
