So, I took off most of the day yesterday to go to a funeral out at Riverside National Cemetery. 1 1/2 hr drive each way. Since it was supposed to start promptly at 1:00 and by 1:05 nothing was happening we figured we better go back up to the main office and see what was happening with our friend who was burying/interment for his wife. Sorry for the run on sentence, grammar geeks.
The problem.……
He forgot to bring his wife's ashes/urn for interment. Since she served in the military it was all set up for a 21 gun salute, etc. He was just devastated. At 89 years old, he gets a pass. There were 3 other relatives in the car with him and you would think one of them would say, "where's the urn? do we have her ashes?"
So, nothing to be done for it. It is re-scheduled for next week. Luckily the relatives that flew in from New York and Florida had not planned to go home for a while. So, they will try it again next week. We all went to a nice Italian lunch and shared great memories of our friend.
