"Student debt: An American horror story"
Posted by  Christine/OK of OK on 1/16/19 10:36am Msg #30867
By Michael Hobbes.

"Michael Hobbes is a reporter for HuffPost and the co-host of “You’re Wrong About,” a podcast that debunks historical and political myths. His article on millennials, “Generation Screwed,” was nominated for a National Magazine Award. Before becoming a journalist, Hobbes worked in international development in Europe and Africa. He’s also an animator, filmmaker and speechwriter. Find him on Twitter at @rottenindenmark."

"Since the 1970s, the cost of education has gone up between 400–1200%, depending on the kind of school you go to."

Insightful article including that students have delayed marriage, delayed children, and delayed buying a home because of their student loans.

"In the early 70s, it took around 300 hours of minimum wage work to afford a four-year college education. By the 2000s, it took 4400 hours of minimum wage work to afford a four-year education." WOW! :0

Michael also recommends considering an education in Europe where in many of those countries it is free or very low cost and is in English.

NOTE: Many don't realize that student loan debt is NOT eliminated through bankruptcy.
