An apostille, is generally issued by a governing authority, authenticating a notary act. It may depend on what state you are in.

It is called an apostille (not apostle). You did not indicate what state you are in, but if it is California this is the link to all the information you need; http://www.ss.ca.gov/business/notary/notary_authentication.htm

Re: What do you guys charge for an Apostille?

If you read the info on the CA notary link for apostilles, you will have seen that the apostille costs $20, and when you go to a regional state office or Sacramento to expedite the service there is an addition $6 charge. Total: $26 out of your pocket. You can add your travel fees on to that and charge what you feel is right.

Re: What do you guys charge for an Apostille?

Since I'm not a governing authority, and don't have the ability to issue them, I don't charge for them.

If you haven't the intelligence to actually read and figure out what they are or how they are obtained, please don't ask us. Did you even bother to look at the link provided by Barbara?

Amen to that! I have never even heard of an Apostille before

let alone know how to use it, and I just bet lots of others havent either, so please, dont be so quick to criticize. Lots of us would be interested in lerning about this type of Notarization. Your arrogant attitude was totally uncalled for!

Re: Amen to that! I have never even heard of an Apostille be

It's NOT a type of notarization. As a notary, you have nothing to do with an apostille, it is issued by the SOS to authenticate a notary act. This is what I stated in my first post, I really don't know how much clearer I can make it.

As for attitude, when someone is given the link that explains what an apostille is and they still ask how much to charge for one, doesn't that make you think that they never read the link? The link Barbara gave has all the info, I just don't understand why there are still questions about how much to charge when it is not something notaries do.

Re: Dear Jon wasn't rude.

The others either didn't read his post or didn't look up the link, if they did they wouldn't have asked 'what he charged'.
