By all means, go for it Tony! I don't think representation should have to wait until have the proverbial horse is out of the barn and the SPW is asking for notary input in mid 2014. Too much can already be decided by that time.

Sorry....but Negrete may be a good SS...(I worked a few jobs for them long ago) but it is still a Signing Service.... that industry as a whole is problematic.... We want representation by a well respected group of EXPERIENCED Signing Agents.... not part-timers, but folks who are out there at 7am and 10pm doing a Closing and not gripping about it... I think if we can interest at least 3 or 5 such people to represent the membership of Notary Rotary (I am a paid member) to NNA (I am a paid member) and that other group SPW that we know very little about - But I cannot allow a Signing Service to speak for me.

I agree with Pam - I think we would be far better

represented by a true NSA - not the owner of a signing service. Although I respect Tony (only worked for him once but still respect him ) he IS (a) the owner of a signing service and (b) NNA Certified and Background checked.

I'd like to see the (or those) NSA rep(s) be someone totally unaffiliated with the NNA at all - like MW/VA and any others not associated.

Really? If I understand you correctly, because I have

been certified and have BKGC with the NNA, I would not be a welcome voice? Its very likely that many of us who have relented and gotten the certification and bkgc so we could work with a number of companies are just as passionate about stopping the giant as anyone.
personally, I am outraged by the "code" and imagine any notary, whether NNA certified or not that bothers to thoughtfully read the tripe they have come out with is also outraged.

of course your voice would be welcome - but to sit on the group? An impartial party, IMO, would be more appropriate. I, too, am NNA Cert and BGC'd - I would voice my opinions and feelings to this impartial party ..

Agreed....same feeling.

I work for 3 SS's only because they meet my fee. Negrete's does not meet my fee. We have no meeting of the minds. How can he represent me?

TOTALLY AGREE WITH YOU!!

I say let's send a few 'real' people to SPW, I suggested this before in an off the cuff way.

Let's send Tony, Harry and a signing agent who does handle high volume and has been in the trenches for a while.

Tony AND Harry are good choices because they have a view of a much larger picture than one independent contractor and probably much more 'pull'.

Tony, I know you are not asking for financial help. But I'm willing to send a few bucks to cover not only membership, but I'm sure this will add up in travel, and such.

I say put it out there.

As an aside, you know; I've only done a few jobs for you, and I've always had to negotiate the fee...I always seem to have to give up a few... I'm just saying :0)
