I have run into that so many times in the past. I always look for agreed fee on the confirmation. I either call or email them to send me a new confirmation with the agreed amount listed on the confirmation if they want me to oversee the signing for them. They always comply. If they refuse, I take them off my calendar.

I used to get checks with anywhere from $10 to $50 less than agreed fee, but wasn't worth chasing after (which I'm sure the hiring entity figured as much). If they do that to ten notaries in one day, that is anywhere from $100 to $500 extra in their pocket.
