Black light for id check? Anyone do this?
Posted by SReis on 11/16/24 1:14pm

I have always thought as notaries we should have some sort of scanner like they have at bars to check to make sure the id we are checking is legit. While I always review all info and the pic, some of the new "fake" ids look so real it may be hard to spot the fake esp if its an out of state license. One of the suggestions to prevent against fraud was to use a black light to check for the holograms that most state ids have.

Found this helpful guideline online too re: each state's security feature on the ids so you know what to look for.

Seems like an easy suggestion and just one more protection we can use to usurp these fraudsters.
