Re: Ca Signing Agents and SB 5

I can see where notaries go sit at a title company and work all day for a set fee, no matter how many signings they oerform, could be dubbed "employees" as their work schedule is set by the title company, and they could be required to deduct FICA/FUTA and state/federal taxes by collecting W9s.

Or, they hire through a temp to hire employment agency and that agency collects taxes through an agency agreement with title.

I work for so many different companies during the course of a day/week/month, not sure how this would work. I have signed IC agreements with most of the companies I work with where it says I'm responsibl to pay local, state and federal taxes and any licensing requirements.

I wonder how this is doable state to state, it seems to me it will be problematic and a lot like trying to herd a hundred million feral cats in a barnyard.
