I’m often asked to do a Georgia closing in Florida. While most law offices comply with Florida regulations, some still only want me to use their simple signature and stamp format which as a Florida notary, I am not by law allowed to do. They will say, “Go ahead and add your acknowledgment but also sign and stamp ours. they could just toss the Florida acknowledgment and record using the Georgia doc with a Florida stamp and signature. Only the Florida acknowledgement or jurat is permitted if closed in Florida. If a buyer or seller was looking to contest any closing after the fact, an incorrect notarization is a good place to start. |
