I agree. I wear a mask & gloves. Some people wear masks in their home & some don't. A few want to do it outside in 90+ on the car hood or on a rough wooden table, but understand that that won't work. A few set up tables in the garage or in a sheltered area. Hybrid closings where the laptop gets plugged in generally requires being done inside on a stable surface, and borrowers understand that even if they thought it could be done elsewhere.
I do not believe that it is a good practice to sign outside where we could be exposed to wind, rain, sun, or on a table which is not flat and smooth and large enough. It is certainly not a good practice to set up a procedure which could leave borrowers to believe that I may not be well or may have some enhanced vulnerability. In 1000s of closings, I have never encountered borrowers who got into their political beliefs or positions.
These days where virtually all loans are "plain vanilla," a closing is a simple business transaction which should not involve any drama. |
