I called the Secretary of State notary hotline and they said since the notary handbook does not deal with the idea of an AKA, they recommended having the lender issue a letter of opinion from a California attorney showing the legal code they find showing a provision for putting two variations of one name on the acknowledgement. They said to tell the lender that without such a letter I was at risk for being fined $10,000. |
