RICARDO, SHAME ON YOU. For your sake, I hope your nose doesn't grow long like Pinocchio. For all of you new to this saga... I did not misplace a check. I never received it. Secondly, I did not make a rude phone call. I sent what started out as nice emails. Below I have copied my original posting with emails back and forth to Notarize this! concerning the missing check. I would say my emails are civil, the answers are not. Furthermore this crazy company is overlooking that other notaries have posted here about non-payment (Do a search if you care to do that). And now the lies about me misplacing the check and why they had to charge me. What is this all about. Anyhow here is all the original info. Copied directly from my earlier posting which is copied directly from emails. This is just so out of control. Shame on you people at Notarize This!

HERE IS THE ORIGINALS WITH SUBSTANTIATING EMAILS.

I just paid $25.00 for Notarize this! (Wildomar, CA) to reissue a check that I never received from them in the first place. Here's how this story goes:

Did a job for Notarize this! (Wildomar, CA). Received an email on 12/22/05 telling me a check was waiting for me. Sign the attached w9 and it will be sent. Did so immediately. Another email stating it was going out "tomorrow." Tomorrow being 12/23. Sent another email on 1/4/06 that I did not get it. Response from Notarize this! was that it was not sent until 12/27 and holidays probably delayed it. On 1/9 still not paid, the back-and-forth emails transpired between Notarize This! and yours truly.

Email to Notarize this! on 1/9:
Dear Britney:

I know you said the check went out on the 27th of December. This being the case I think it may be lost in the mail. Please check the address that you sent it to. Also, can you resend. (I received a check that was sent on 1/3 from California zip code 93063. . It arrived on Sat., 1/7. Using this as a benchmark and even with the holidays two weeks is much too long unless something happened to the check. Please advise.

Thanks,
Barbara

The reply and directly quoted from email:

Below is your W-9 which has the address you provided to send the check to. If we have to resend the check, it is a $25 fee to cancel the check. If you so choose to have me resend it, let me know and I will put the stop payment on it.

My response:

That is the right address. Are you telling me that if I don't get the check it is my responsibility to pay for you to reissue something I never received. That does not make much sense. It is 2 weeks and no check. How is this my problem.

Barbara

Yet another response:

Well, I feel the same way. We mailed it as we said and we can't take the loss if your mail never delivered it. We take our checks directly to the post office to avoid any issues on our end. There is no way of knowing if someone stole it out of your mail box either. I do apologize but we don't make enough on our end to cover these additional costs. As it is, we have had to pay out to notaries on assignments we are still trying to get paid on from misc. brokers etc..

The saga goes on with phone calls. And additionally a dispute for the fee which was in addition to the $25 check reissue fee was being shorted. I had an email confirmation so I won that round. I took the hit for $25.00 because it was better than fighting and not getting paid at all but this is surely an "immature" attitude for a company in a grownup business. Try using this on your creditors...see how far you get when you tell them you are deducting $25.00 from a check YOU say you mailed but they never received.
