Re: I thought you had just posted of doing 9 signings in one

I don't really think that's relevant. If we hire a plumber, or any other service provider, how far (s)he had to drive from a previous appointment isn't relevant. This is thinking I've found I've had to struggle with over the years, and may be a generational thing for some of us - especially women... Wink There's a part of me that always wants to be generous and 'fair', but I'm learning that most businesses don't work that way. And it may have something to do with working for signing services who are always trying to squeeze a few extra bucks out of us.

It also might depend on our client structure and who we work for. If lots of our appointments are from a particular signing service, that might be a different story, but not so when dealing directly with title co's and/or the general public. That's a matter of negotiation. I think most reasonable people would expect that if the appointment requires us to spend additional time in the car, plus fuel, wear and tear, it should cost more. I'm certain that those notaries who live in more rural areas and spend lots of drive time per appointment, make sure that they charge accordingly.

As for the low end, we all have a baseline, and shouldn't be expected to drop from there because of extenuating circumstances. Doing multiple signings in one place could be an exception, but while I've never had the number of signings that Cheryl and ananotary have had, the signings I HAVE done with multiple loans in one location for a direct client, no one wasted any mental energy even thinking about discounting the notary fee(s).
