Excellent point, Linda. In fact, it sometimes seems to be the other way around, with attorneys (those with their egos under control) deferring to the notary about some details. Wink [We're supposed to be the experts on this issue anyway, right?!]

I've encountered many attorneys in a variety of situations who referred to a notary certificate as a jurat, even if it was an acknowledgment. Recently, an attorney (a regular client) told me that that's what they were taught in law school. [I should have asked which one... Wink] I'd dismiss it as the attorney not remembering correctly if I hadn't heard the same thing so many times. Notary stuff clearly isn't their major focus!
