The MiFi is a cellular modem which connects to the Internet though some data service, and it's a WiFi router, supporting up to five simultaneous wireless connections, from your laptop and others in the area. Thus, for example, the MiFi connects to the WiFi router at Starbucks. Some of your friends connect their laptops, wirelessly, to the MiFi connection. The result is a wireless network similar in function to a home wireless network, but with mobile devices. |
