phishing is a variation on “fishing,” the idea being that bait is thrown out with the hopes that while most will ignore the bait, some will be tempted into biting. Typically one would copy html of a legitimate business site to instantiate a 'fake' site with the intention of glomming some personal info. Sort of like the 'Ebay' phishing scam, where many were told that thier accounts were in arrears..etc... Easy task to accomplish this facade, but just as easy to detect if using the proper validation and authentication software. IE 7.0 also has enhanced the SSL security. |
