Do you mean that in the area where Mary signs, she would sign "Mary I. Jones AKA Mary L. Jones", nobody would strike out the "Mary I. Jones" under the signature like, but you would strike out "Mary I. Jones AKA" in the notarial certificate?

I agree with the others, ask title what they want. And then decide if you are willing to do what title wants.

It's possible that Mary might have other satisfactory ID for the name "Mary I. Jones". Since people are allowed to do business under an alias, I don't see why you couldn't leave the notarial certificate as it is, so long as Mary has ID for both versions of the name.
