For years now, I've made it a point to confirm proper, current IDs at the point I confirm the appointment. Earlier in my notary career, I made too many trips to signers only to find they don't have acceptable ID. Chasing after a print or travel fee just isn't worth it to me and creates problems for everyone involved in the transaction. Sometimes people say "of course", but we know that's not always the case - or what they think is acceptable is not...
