 Re: Signing Agent Necessity

It all depends on what you want to do with your notary commission. For practical purposes, "signing agent" really means someone who conducts mobile real-estate related signings, such as purchases and refinances. Some sort of training is usually expected by signing services and nationwide title companies before they will give you any assignments. (In today's market, it can be hard for a new signing agent to get assignments at all, no matter how much training you take.)

If you just want to do general notary work (not involving real estate) and are prepared to market your services locally, the signing agent training won't have much value. You might want to look into some general notary training; I don't know how much notary training is required in NC to get your commission, and I don't know how much you already know.
