Why didnt I wait until age 65? Because, it would take me 4-5 years to make up the difference if what I would have left on the table and who is to say, even though I am a very young, active, vibrant, healthy, fit 62 year old, how long I have on this earth. it just made more sense to me to take it early since I quite my "real" demanding job 2 years ago to go into business for myself and became a Notary Signing Agent. My understanding is that once you turn 62 and take early retirement you can only make $1,000 a month (after expenses) before they will deduct 50% over $1,000 a month, from your SS. That is so unfair but I think they dont want to encourage us to work hard for some crazy reason. So, thats my story and I wish all you other oldsters out there, like me, that care about staying young and working hard, and being a part of this community, a very prosperous and healthy year! |
