If it turns out to be an issue, there's usually another alternative. However, I've seen that request with lines of credit signings where it may be required as a condition of the loan. If that's the case, then that's something the LO should have made them aware of before we got to that point.

You'd be amazed how often people don't get that we have access to so much of their info. I see it most with seller packages where I still get people hesitant sometimes to write down their SSN. It's a necessary detail on many of the forms. I think, though, that it's easier to get them to trust us when we're face to face than it is over the phone.
