By themselves, I would not interpret a set of sample certificates provided by the SOS, or even embedded in the law, as a requirement that I use the certificates, or that I perform notarial acts in the way implied by the certificate. I would look for additional information about how much the law allows me to perform the acts differently, or other ways the certificates could be written.
In the case of paper copies of electronic documents, which I'm allowed to do in VT, I would feel a need to modify the short form in the law to link the paper to the electronic file, perhaps by adding a hash value. Vermont specifically allows certificates other than those given in the law, as long as the certificate contains the required information. |
