And of course, one can see how the stakes are just not the same when someone is supplementing their* wages with notary work vs. someone supplying herself with sole income. The majority here at one time or other entered the field PT due to other commitments, to test the waters, etc. And in fact, that's where most are now - retired, 2nd income, side "expression" and whatever euphemism you like, mainly because industry standards & fees deteriorated to the degree described in these posts. Don't know who to feel sorry for anymore. Just don't allow yourself to be taken for granted. Learn everything you can, market and keep your day job. Waiting 2-3 months to receive payment for your services is not the way (doesn't matter what they disclose). It is a sign of mismanagement and a level of laxity along with a whole host of other stuff we won't mention. No one can tell you who to work for (your call); but new recruits should know how not to be taken unfair advantage of. ALso, it is not really possible to professionally commit to an assignment on a text.
