I'm not sure what you're talking about, either, but is it possible that it's the browser that does what you describe? I use Firefox, and it offers a feature that allows your data input to be saved so fields can be automatically populated when you're setting up or updating an account.
That's about all I know... Like you, I'm also facing an update from Window 7 to 10 - and not excited about it. I've just started doing some research. FYI, I've discovered that Microsoft is offering MS Office 2019 for $99 until 12/7/19. So we no longer have to be captive to the cloud, forced to subscribe to Office 365!  Lots of Black Friday sale seem to be lasting until then, too, so I hope I can make a decision by then... ;>)
